Dr.Kalpana Babu completed her postgraduation in ophthalmology from Bangalore Medical College and Minto Regional Institute of Ophthalmology, Bangalore, India. She did her fellowship in Uveitis and Intraocular inflammation and Ocular pathology at Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai. She is a member of the International Uveitis Study group and the International Ocular Inflammation Society. She is currently the treasurer and on the executive board of the International ocular inflammation society and also the general secretary of the Uveitis Society of India. She is also member of the scientific programme committee of the International Ocular Inflammation Society. She has 48 publications in peer reviewed journals and is a reviewer for several international peer reviewed journals. She also has written chapters for books in ophthalmology. She is an invited speaker at several national and international meetings in Uveitis and ocular pathology. She has received the Indian Journal of Ophthalmology-Gold award for the year 2009-2010, the Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology Travel grant for young ophthalmologists in 2011 and the College of ophthalmologists of Hongkong(COHK) and the Hongkong ophthalmological society (HKOIS) travel grants in 2012. She is also receipient of the Best general fellow award at Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai in 2003, MM Joshi Best paper award in 2005 by the Karnataka ophthalmic society and Dr.Narsing Rao’s best paper award at the annual meeting of the Uveitis Society of India in 2005. She has successfully organized many national CMEs on uveitis and was the organizing secretary of the First International Assembly of Ocular Inflammation Society at Goa, India in 2011.
