About Quard Cream

BETAMETHASONE+CLOTRIMAZOLE+NEOMYCIN is a dermatological medication primarily used to treat various fungal and bacterial skin infections. It treats skin inflammation due to allergies or irritants, eczema (inflamed, itchy, cracked and rough skin patches), psoriasis (skin cells multiply rapidly to form bumpy (uneven) red patches covered with white scales), ringworm, athlete's foot, jock itch, insect bites and stings. Bacterial infection occurs when harmful bacteria grow in the body and causes illness. Fungal infection occurs when a fungus invades and affects the tissue on the skin.

BETAMETHASONE+CLOTRIMAZOLE+NEOMYCIN is composed of three medicines: Betamethasone (steroid), Clotrimazole (antifungal) and Neomycin (antibiotic). Betamethasone belongs to the class of corticosteroids. It blocks the production of prostaglandins (chemical messengers) that make the affected area red, swollen and itchy. Betamethasone treats inflammation and itchiness caused by eczema and psoriasis. Clotrimazole is an antifungal medication that treats fungal infections, such as vaginal yeast infections, oral thrush, athlete's foot, jock itch and ringworm. It stops the growth of fungi by causing damage and leakage to the fungal cell membrane. On the other hand, Neomycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic used in treating bacterial and fungal infections of the skin. It prevents the synthesis of essential proteins required by bacteria to carry out vital functions and has broad-spectrum activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.

Directions for Use

BETAMETHASONE+CLOTRIMAZOLE+NEOMYCIN is available in the form of topical (skin use) cream and ointment. Cream/Ointment: Apply a thin layer of cream/ointment with clean and dry hands on the skin's affected areas. You can also apply BETAMETHASONE+CLOTRIMAZOLE+NEOMYCIN with a piece of clean cotton wool or gauze swab. Gently rub the medicine into the skin until it is disappeared. Wash your hands before and after applying BETAMETHASONE+CLOTRIMAZOLE+NEOMYCIN on the affected areas unless the treatment is for hands. The dosage and duration will depend on the severity of your infection. BETAMETHASONE+CLOTRIMAZOLE+NEOMYCIN is for external use only. If the medicine gets into your eyes, nose, mouth or vagina, rinse thoroughly with cold water.

Side Effects of Quard Cream

BETAMETHASONE+CLOTRIMAZOLE+NEOMYCIN has common side effects as every medicine does. Although not everybody gets them, some side effects of BETAMETHASONE+CLOTRIMAZOLE+NEOMYCIN include burning, irritation, itching and redness at the application site. These side effects usually go away during the treatment. However, if you notice any excessive hair growth, skin thinning or discolouration, acne, stretch marks and hair bumps (folliculitis), please consult your doctor.

BETAMETHASONE+CLOTRIMAZOLE+NEOMYCIN is not for oral, ophthalmic (eye) or intravaginal use. Do not use topical BETAMETHASONE+CLOTRIMAZOLE+NEOMYCIN on open wounds, blisters and lesions. Do not put dressing or bandage on the affected area since it increases the risk of side effects. Please check with your doctor before using BETAMETHASONE+CLOTRIMAZOLE+NEOMYCIN, if you have pituitary gland diseases, cataract or glaucoma, diabetes, liver and kidney diseases. Topical use of corticosteroids (Betamethasone) may sometimes cause systemic immunosuppression while treating infections. This condition may worsen the infections; hence BETAMETHASONE+CLOTRIMAZOLE+NEOMYCIN should be carefully used with patients with active infections.

Drug-Drug Interaction:

Inform your doctor if you are taking any prescription and non-prescription drugs, including herbal and vitamin products. Clotrimazole in BETAMETHASONE+CLOTRIMAZOLE+NEOMYCIN may reduce the effectiveness of latex contraceptives.
