Medicinal Benefits of Gen 20mg Injection

GENTAMICIN contains Gentamicin, a broad-spectrum antibiotic that acts against bacterial infections of the urinary tract (including kidneys or bladder), chest (including lungs), abdomen (including gut), brain, and spinal cord, blood, and bacterial infections in newborn babies. It may be given alone or in combination with other antibiotics. It works by inhibiting the synthesis of bacterial proteins, the subsequent formation of nonfunctional proteins and the eventual death of susceptible bacteria. Also, GENTAMICIN decreases the attachment of bacteria to cells lining the urinary bladder, thereby preventing bladder infection caused by E Coli bacteria. Additionally, it does not allow the bacteria to grow and prevents the infection from spreading. GENTAMICIN does not work for any virus or fungal infections.

Directions for Use

GENTAMICIN is given as an intravenous (into a vein) infusion (drip) by a doctor or nurse. Do not self-administer, it should only be given by a doctor or a nurse. The doctor will advise the right dosage after checking the weight of a person, type of infection, and other diseases a person has. Ear drops: Do not touch the dropper and hold it close to the ear by tilting your head to the side. Gently squeeze the dropper and put the ear drops inside the ear. Keep your head tilted for a minute to let the drops soak in. Eye drops: Tilt your head back and pull your lower eyelid downwards and outwards. Gently squeeze the dropper and put the eye drops inside the eye/eyes. Blink a few times to spread the medication inside your eye.
