About Sumeday 50 Tablet IR

SUMATRIPTAN belongs to a group of medicines called selective serotonin receptor agonist. It is primarily used to treat migraine. It reduces the symptoms of migraine and stops the attack from becoming worse. Migraine is a primary headache disorder. Migraine most often starts at puberty. People most affected by migraine at the aged between 35 and 45 years.  Migraine is supposed to result from the swelling (dilatation) of vessels of blood in the head. It is more common in women. It is caused by the initiation of a process deep in the brain that causes the release of pain-producing inflammatory substances across the head's blood vessels and nerves.

SUMATRIPTAN works by narrowing the blood vessels in the head, stops the spread of pain to the brain, and blocks the release of substances that cause nausea and other migraine symptoms. This relieves the attack of migraine.

This relieves the attack of migraine.

Directions for Use

Take SUMATRIPTAN with or without food. The tablet form of SUMATRIPTAN should be swallowed as a whole with a glass of water; do not chew or break the tablet. SUMATRIPTAN is also available in the form of injection. Each vial for injection use one time only. You are advised to take SUMATRIPTAN for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you depending on your medical conditions.

Side Effects of Sumeday 50 Tablet IR

Most of the side effects of SUMATRIPTAN do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects are persistent, reach out to your doctor. Some common side effects of SUMATRIPTAN are dizziness, drowsiness, weakness, peripheral neuropathy (itchy and numbness of hand and feet), and flushing (hotness in the ears, face, trunk, and neck). Everyone doesn't need to experience the above side effects. In case of any discomfort, speak with your doctor.

In-Depth Precautions and Warning

Drug-Drug Interaction:

SUMATRIPTAN may have interaction with pain killers (Ibuprofen, aspirin, naproxen), an antidepressant (duloxetine), and other medicines for migraine (dihydroergotamine, rizatriptan, zolmitriptan).

Safety Advice

ALCOHOL

Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking SUMATRIPTAN as it may lead to increased dizziness and drowsiness.

 

BREAST FEEDING

SUMATRIPTAN can pass into the milk of breast. Do not feed within 12 hours after using SUMATRIPTAN. If you use a breast pump during this time, throw out any milk you collect. Do not feed it to your baby.

DRIVING

SUMATRIPTAN may cause dizziness, drowsiness, and uncontrolled movements. Do not drive or operate machinery unless you are alert.

LIVER

SUMATRIPTAN to be taken with caution, especially if you have a history of liver diseases/conditions.

KIDNEY

SUMATRIPTAN to be taken with caution, especially if you have a history of kidney diseases/conditions.
