Olanzapine and fluoxetine combination is used to treat depression that is a part of bipolar disorder, and depression in patients who received other antidepressants that did not work well. This medicine should not be used to treat behavioral problems in older adult patients who have dementia or Alzheimer's disease.

Fluoxetine+Olanzapine is used in the treatment of bipolar depression. It refers to the "lows," or depressive phase, of bipolar disorder.

Medicinal Benefits of Oline Forte 20 mg/10 mg Tablet

Fluoxetine + Olanzapine is a combination of two medicines: Fluoxetine and Olanzapine. They work by increasing the activity of certain chemicals called serotonin, norepinephrine, and dopamine in the brain. These chemicals help relieve the symptoms of bipolar depression.

Directions for Use

Use the medicine exactly as directed. You should not stop using fluoxetine and olanzapine suddenly. Follow your doctor's instructions about tapering your dose. Take the medicine at the same time each day, with or without food.

Drug Warnings

• Don't drive or do anything requiring concentration until you know how it affects you.

• It may cause increase in weight, blood sugar, cholesterol, and triglycerides (fat). Eat healthy and exercise regularly.

Drug Interactions

Drug-Drug Interaction:

OLANZAPINE+FLUOXETINE may interact with other benzodiazepines or anti-anxiety drugs (lorazepam and diazepam),  and opioid analgesics (tramadol and codeine).

Drug-Disease Interaction:

OLANZAPINE+FLUOXETINE should be used with caution in patients with dementia, CNS (central nervous system) depression, obesity, eye problems, acute alcohol intoxication (change in mental behaviour after alcohol consumption), brain stroke, heart diseases, hyperlipidemia (lipid alterations), hyperglycemia/diabetes, liver disease, kidney problems, epilepsy, and parkinsonism (brain disorder).

Safety Advice

ALCOHOL

Patients taking OLANZAPINE+FLUOXETINE should avoid taking alcohol as it may increase drowsiness.

PREGNANCY

OLANZAPINE+FLUOXETINE should be used in pregnant women only when prescribed by a doctor.

BREAST FEEDING

OLANZAPINE+FLUOXETINE is unsafe and should not be given to breastfeeding mothers.

DRIVING

OLANZAPINE+FLUOXETINE causes drowsiness. So, avoid driving or operating heavy machinery after taking OLANZAPINE+FLUOXETINE.

LIVER

OLANZAPINE+FLUOXETINE should be used with caution in patients with liver diseases.

KIDNEY

OLANZAPINE+FLUOXETINE should be used in patients with kidney diseases only when prescribed by a doctor. Dose adjustments and regular monitoring of electrolytes may be required as it may alter electrolyte levels in the body.
