About Fusigen Ointment

SODIUM FUSIDATE belongs to a group of medicines called antibiotics used to treat infections of the skin, wounds, bone, heart tissue, lungs, septicaemia (blood infection), impetigo (swollen patches of skin), skin inflammation, and infections connected with the condition cystic fibrosis. Bacterial infections are caused due to the multiplication of harmful bacteria inside or on the body. SODIUM FUSIDATE does not work against infections caused by the virus, including cold and flu.

SODIUM FUSIDATE contains ‘Sodium fusidate’ which works by preventing the synthesis of essential proteins required for the survival of the bacteria. Thereby, stops bacterial growth and treats the infection.

SODIUM FUSIDATE is a narrow-spectrum antibiotic that mainly acts against most of the gram-positive bacteria. The topical form of SODIUM FUSIDATE is used in the treatment of bacterial skin infections. The tablet form of SODIUM FUSIDATE is used to treat bacterial infections of bone, lungs, blood, and infections due to cystic fibrosis. SODIUM FUSIDATE inhibits the production of essential proteins necessary for bacteria to grow, multiply and increase in numbers. Thereby, it stops the growth of bacteria without killing them directly. Then the bacteria eventually die, or immune system destroys them and clears the infection.

Directions for Use

Topical: Clean and dry the affected area. Take a pea-sized amount onto your finger and apply it directly onto the affected area and gently massage it in. Do not use SODIUM FUSIDATE on dressing, band-aids and make-up unless told by the doctor. If SODIUM FUSIDATE comes in contact with eyes, nose or mouth, rinse with water immediately. Wash your hands before and after using SODIUM FUSIDATE, however, do not wash your hands if you apply a SODIUM FUSIDATE on hand. Tablet: Swallow SODIUM FUSIDATE as a whole with water; do not crush or chew the tablet.

Side Effects of Fusigen Ointment

Topical: Burning sensation, irritation, itching, and redness at the site of application.
Tablet: Stomach discomfort, heartburn, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, diarrhoea.
