About Dysvon 10mg Tablet

METOCLOPRAMIDE belongs to a group of medicines called anti-emetics used to prevent nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and which might occur after migraine. Additionally, METOCLOPRAMIDE is also used to treat gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and delayed gastric emptying. Nausea is an uneasy feeling in which the person feels an urge to vomit, whereas vomiting is an uncontrollable reflex that expels the contents of the stomach through the mouth. Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) occurs when stomach acid frequently flows back into the food pipe (oesophagus).

METOCLOPRAMIDE contains ‘metoclopramide’ that works by increasing the motility of the upper gastrointestinal tract; this allows faster transit of food and reduces the symptoms of GERD and gastric emptying. It also works on the part of the brain that controls vomiting, thereby helps in preventing nausea and vomiting.

Take METOCLOPRAMIDE 30minutes before food, preferably at bedtime. The tablet form of METOCLOPRAMIDE should be swallowed as a whole with a glass of water; do not chew, or break the tablet. The liquid form of METOCLOPRAMIDE should be taken by mouth using the measuring cup provided by the pack; shake the bottle well before each use. A healthcare professional will administer the injection form of METOCLOPRAMIDE; do not self-administer. You are advised to take METOCLOPRAMIDE for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you depending on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience certain common side-effects such as diarrhoea, drowsiness, weakness, restlessness, low blood pressure, rigidity, tremor, uncontrollable muscle movements, muscle stiffness, and depression. Most of these side-effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side-effects persistently.

Inform your doctor before taking METOCLOPRAMIDE if you heart problems, abnormal salt levels, brain problems, atopy, porphyria, liver or kidney problems. Do not take METOCLOPRAMIDE for more than 3months as it might increase the risk of muscle spasms. Consult your doctor before taking METOCLOPRAMIDE if you are pregnant or planning for pregnancy. METOCLOPRAMIDE may pass into breast milk and might affect the baby, so avoid taking METOCLOPRAMIDE if you are breastfeeding. METOCLOPRAMIDE may cause drowsiness and dizziness, so drive only if you are alert. METOCLOPRAMIDE should not be given to children as the safety have not been established. Avoid consuming alcohol along with METOCLOPRAMIDE as it could lead to increased drowsiness and dizziness.
