Chloramphenicol + Hydroxypropylmethylcellulose is a combination of two medicines: Chloramphenicol and Hydroxypropylmethylcellulose. Chloramphenicol is an antibiotic which stops bacterial growth in the eye. It does so by preventing synthesis of essential proteins required by bacteria to carry out vital functions. Hydroxypropylmethylcellulose is a lubricant similar to natural tears. It provides temporary relief from burning and discomfort in the eye.
