Graviola or soursop is the fruit of Annona muricata. The graviola is a broadleaf, flowering, evergreen tree native to Mexico, Cuba, Central America, the Caribbean islands of Hispaniola, Puerto Rico, and South America. The graviola is adapted to areas of high humidity and relatively warm winters. Temperatures below 5 °C (41 °F) will cause damage to leaves and small branches, and temperatures below 3 °C (37 °F) can be fatal for the graviola plant because its fruit becomes dry and is no longer good for concentrate.
The flavor has been described as a combination of strawberry and pineapple, with sour citrus flavor notes contrasting with an underlying creamy flavor of banana and coconut. If a friend of yours or a relative suffers from cancer, tell them about this miraculous fruit since the graviola is now widely promoted as an alternative anti-cancer treatment. I already shared the good news with my cancer-diseased friend Barbell Streisand from Detroit and she already feels much better after consuming the fruit. As the popular viral headline says, “graviola is 10,000 times stronger than chemotherapy at killing cancerous cells,” basically giving the graviola as an answer to one of the most devastating diseases of today.
What is the truth about graviola and what does the FDA say about graviola’s potential to stop cancer? Let’s investigate a little bit further. While the FDA does not agree with anti-cancer studies that show the graviola’s potential for selectively targeting and killing cancer cells within the body, many people continue to take it particularly for this purpose. Indeed, there is a significant corpus of independent research out there on graviola’s anti-cancer effects that go in favor of the graviola’s mass consumption.
Graviola studies
Probably the biggest and most comprehensive study on the anti-cancer effects of graviola comes from Purdue University’s School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, which looked at the substances of the tree of the genus Annonaceous acetogenins. The University spent millions of dollars on researching graviola’s active substances (as well as other plants’ potential to fight cancer development, including the similar one –the pawpaw) and eventually came up with some promising news: the compounds were shown to be powerful at inhibiting the growth of cancer cells while remarkably leaving healthy cells intact. These compounds in the graviola were also found to work against drug-resistant cancer cells as well.
Those who have doubts about the study [FDA included], point out that these were in vitro tests that is done on cancer cells in test tubes and not in clinical trials. Unfortunately, there are no long-term human studies on graviola, for cancer and other diseases it is believed to be effective against. However, it should be noted that, if you do plan to use the graviola, you should consult with a medical doctor prior to use since it is a powerful natural medicine.
That being said, if you’d like to see the research on graviola for yourself, you can visit the website PubMed.Gov, which offers over 23 million citations for biomedical literature from MEDLINE, science journals and online books.
Health benefits of graviola include antioxidants, immune system support and more…
Found in South America in the Amazon River basin, the graviola tree is usually about 15-30 feet tall, and packs a strong nutritional punch. The tree’s fruit has a delicious custard-like texture and a striking, spiked melon-like appearance, but most of the best health benefits are actually found in the leaves and bark of the tree. This is one important point many websites forget to make! The graviola tree leaves and bark have been consumed in healing teas by the Amazon natives for thousands of years to treat ailments ranging from arthritis to parasites to liver issues. In the picture are shown are 3 graviola (soursop) fruits hanging from the tree. While the remarkable cancer-killing properties of the graviola have been loudly disputed by governmental agencies, there is much evidence that the popular Amazon superfood offers a wide variety of benefits to help protect and boost your health.
These graviola health benefits may include:
- Highly active antioxidant compounds, offering protection against aging.
- Help in stimulating blood circulation.
- Assistance in draining the lympathic system.
- Support for your entire immune system.
Although the FDA has approved the graviola as an immune booster, it has not done the same in terms of its anti-cancer effects. In fact, the numerous websites publishing information about the anti-cancer effects have been targeted by the government agency, and told to remove the anti-cancer claims for the graviola from their websites or will face stiff penalties.
