PRODUCT DETAILS
About Unipristal 5mg Tablet
Ulipristal Acetate is a medication that is used for intermittent treatment of moderate to severe symptoms of uterine fibroids (abnormal growth in the uterus) and also as an emergency contraceptive.
Uses of Unipristal 5mg Tablet
- Uterine fibroids
A fibroid is an abnormal growth that occurs in your uterus. These fibroid(s) mainly occur in women during the childbearing age and do not generally lead to tumours (cancers). Ulipristal Acetate is used to treat symptoms in moderate to severe uterine fibroids (such as heavy periods) at lower doses (5mg/10mg/15mg).
- Emergency contraception
Contraception is a process of preventing an unwanted pregnancy. Emergency contraception is a method of using contraceptive pills to avoid pregnancy that occurs due to unprotected sex. Ulipristal Acetate is indicated in higher doses (30mg) as an emergency contraceptive. It should be taken within 5 days (120 hours) after unprotected sexual intercourse. Take Ulipristal Acetate only after consulting with your doctor. Do not self medicate.
Medicinal Benefits of Unipristal 5mg Tablet
Ulipristal Acetate reduces the size of fibroids by blocking the effects of progesterone. Progesterone is a sex hormone involved in the menstrual cycle, pregnancy and the formation of eggs (primary female gamete). As a contraceptive, it prevents the release of the egg during ovulation.
