PHENAZOPYRIDINE belongs to a group of medicines called analgesics indicated for the relief of pain, burning sensation, urgency/frequency or discomfort occurring due to irritation of the lower urinary tract's mucosal lining caused by infections, surgery, trauma, the passage of catheters or endoscopic procedures.
 
PHENAZOPYRIDINE contains ‘Phenazopyridine’ that is excreted in the urine. It exerts an analgesic effect on the urinary tract's mucosa by blocking the release of chemical messengers that cause pain, thereby providing relief from pain, burning sensation, frequency, and urgency.

PHENAZOPYRIDINE belongs to a group of medicines called analgesics. Directions for Use

Take PHENAZOPYRIDINE with or after food to prevent stomach upset. Swallow PHENAZOPYRIDINE as a whole with a glass of water, do not chew or break the tablet. Based on your medical condition, your doctor will decide how long you need to take PHENAZOPYRIDINE.

Drug Warnings

Do not take PHENAZOPYRIDINE if you are allergic to any of its contents if you have renal insufficiency, severe liver problems, and G-6-PD deficiency. Inform your doctor before taking PHENAZOPYRIDINE if you have gastrointestinal disturbances, heart problems, neuromuscular problems, diabetes, and hepatitis. Do not take PHENAZOPYRIDINE if you are pregnant or breastfeeding unless prescribed by the doctor. PHENAZOPYRIDINE may cause dizziness, so drive only if you are alert. PHENAZOPYRIDINE is not recommended for children as safety have not been established. Avoid consuming alcohol along with PHENAZOPYRIDINE as it could lead to increased dizziness. Stop taking PHENAZOPYRIDINE and consult your doctor immediately if you observe yellowish colouring of the skin or eye. PHENAZOPYRIDINE may cause discolouration of urine, faeces, body fluids and soft contact lens.

 PHENAZOPYRIDINE may have interactions with glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G-6-PD) deficiency, hepatitis, and renal dysfunction.

ALCOHOL

Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking PHENAZOPYRIDINE as it may cause increased dizziness.

PREGNANCY

PHENAZOPYRIDINE belongs to pregnancy category B. Please consult your doctor if you have any concerns regarding this, your doctor will prescribe only if the benefits outweigh the risks.

BREAST FEEDING

DRIVING

PHENAZOPYRIDINE may cause dizziness. Do not drive or operate machinery unless you are alert.

LIVER

PHENAZOPYRIDINE should be used with caution in patients with liver disease only when prescribed by a doctor.

KIDNEY

PHENAZOPYRIDINE should be used with caution in patients with kidney insufficiency/disease only when prescribed by a doctor.
