About Luzout 10gm Syrup
LACTULOSE belongs to the group of medicines called laxatives used to treat constipation. LACTULOSE is also used to treat hepatic encephalopathy (decline in brain function that occurs as a result of severe liver disease). Constipation refers to infrequent bowel movements in which the stools are often dry, painful and hard to pass.

Medicinal Benefits of Luzout 10gm Syrup
LACTULOSE belongs to a group of medicines known as laxatives used to treat constipation. LACTULOSE is also used to treat hepatic encephalopathy. LACTULOSE works by drawing water into the bowel and makes the stool softer and easier to pass, thereby provides relief from constipation. LACTULOSE helps in normalizing the bowel movements. LACTULOSE is a type of sugar which is broken down in the large intestine into mild acids that draws water into the colon and softens the stools. LACTULOSE also helps in the growth of good gut bacteria which help in proper digestion. LACTULOSE helps in proper absorption of minerals in the gut, thereby ensures maximum benefit from your food intake.
Directions for Use
Take LACTULOSE with or without food. Liquid: Shake the bottle well and take the prescribed dose/quantity by mouth using the measuring cup provided by the pack. Powder/granules- Dissolve the contents in water and drink. Enema- LACTULOSE will be administered by a healthcare professional. Do not self-administer.
Side Effects of Luzout 10gm Syrup
Like all medicines, LACTULOSE can also cause side-effects, although not everybody experiences them. Flatulence (wind), abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting are the common side-effects of LACTULOSE. Please consult your doctor if you experience any of these side-effects persistently.

Drug Warnings
Do not take LACTULOSE if you are allergic to any of its contents. Do not take LACTULOSE with antacid medicines. To avoid hindrance in the working of LACTULOSE, maintain a gap of one hour between LACTULOSE and antacid medicines. Do not take LACTULOSE unless prescribed by your doctor. Talk to your doctor if there is no bowel movement or if you find rectal bleeding after taking LACTULOSE. Do not take LACTULOSE if you have galactosaemia (galactose indigestion disorder). Inform your doctor if you have diabetes, or if you have to undergo colonoscopy. Consult your doctor before taking LACTULOSE if you are pregnant or breastfeeding; your doctor will prescribe you LACTULOSE only if the benefits outweigh the risks. LACTULOSE should not be given to children unless prescribed by the doctor. Do not take LACTULOSE for more than a week as it may cause dependency on LACTULOSE for a bowel movement.
Drug Interactions
Drug-Drug Interaction:
LACTULOSE may have interaction with furosemide (used to treat oedema), docusate and polyethylene glycol (used to treat constipation), ondansetron (used to prevent nausea and vomiting) and other laxative medicines
Drug-Disease Interaction:
LACTULOSE may have interactions with irritable bowel syndrome, intestinal obstruction disorder, diabetes, and galactosemia (galactose indigestion disorder).
Safety Advice

LACTULOSE does not interact with alcohol. However, you are recommended to avoid alcohol consumption while taking LACTULOSE.
PREGNANCY

BREAST FEEDING

It is not known whether LACTULOSE passes into the mother’s milk. Please consult your doctor before taking LACTULOSE if you are breastfeeding; your doctor will prescribe you LACTULOSE if the benefits outweigh the risks.

LACTULOSE has negligible influence in your ability to drive.
