About Elicalm Forte Tablet
CHLORPROMAZINE+TRIFLUOPERAZINE+TRIHEXIPHENIDYL belongs to a group of medications called ‘antipsychotics’. It is used in the treatment of schizophrenia or psychosis. Schizophrenia is characterized by hallucinations symptoms (seeing or hearing things that are not real) and delusions (wrong beliefs). Manic episodes of excitement or depression characterize bipolar disorder. CHLORPROMAZINE+TRIFLUOPERAZINE+TRIHEXIPHENIDYL prevents the occurrence of these symptoms.
CHLORPROMAZINE+TRIFLUOPERAZINE+TRIHEXIPHENIDYL is composed of three medications namely Chlorpromazine, Trifluoperazine, and Trihexyphenidyl. Chlorpromazine is a typical antipsychotic. It works by blocking the action of dopamine, a chemical messenger in the brain that affects thoughts and mood. Trihexyphenidyl is an anticholinergic that works on the nervous system and corrects some of the side effects occurring during antipsychotic treatment. Trifluoperazine is a typical antipsychotic. It works by blocking the action of dopamine, a chemical messenger in the brain that affects thoughts and mood.
Take CHLORPROMAZINE+TRIFLUOPERAZINE+TRIHEXIPHENIDYL as prescribed by your doctor. You are advised to take CHLORPROMAZINE+TRIFLUOPERAZINE+TRIHEXIPHENIDYL as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you depending on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience certain common side effects such as nausea, constipation, sedation, dryness in the mouth, weight gain, orthostatic hypotension (sudden lowering of blood pressure on standing), urinary retention, the Increased prolactin level in blood, dizziness, blurred vision, nervousness. Most of these side effects of CHLORPROMAZINE+TRIFLUOPERAZINE+TRIHEXIPHENIDYL do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if these side effects persist longer, please consult your doctor.
Do not take CHLORPROMAZINE+TRIFLUOPERAZINE+TRIHEXIPHENIDYL if you are allergic to CHLORPROMAZINE+TRIFLUOPERAZINE+TRIHEXIPHENIDYL or any other ingredients present in it. Before taking CHLORPROMAZINE+TRIFLUOPERAZINE+TRIHEXIPHENIDYL, talk to your doctor if you or your family have a history of hypertension, or CNS depression, narrow-angle glaucoma, neuroleptic malignant syndrome, tardive dyskinesia, and have a history of dementia (memory loss). CHLORPROMAZINE+TRIFLUOPERAZINE+TRIHEXIPHENIDYL is not recommended during pregnancy as it may affect the unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are breastfeeding before taking CHLORPROMAZINE+TRIFLUOPERAZINE+TRIHEXIPHENIDYL. Please do not stop taking CHLORPROMAZINE+TRIFLUOPERAZINE+TRIHEXIPHENIDYL without your doctor’s advice as it may lead to withdrawal symptoms.

Directions for Use

CHLORPROMAZINE+TRIFLUOPERAZINE+TRIHEXIPHENIDYL may interact with some medications, including antidepressants (citalopram, escitalopram, bupropion), medicines for Parkinson’s disease (levodopa, phenelzine), antiepileptic ( carbamazepine, phenobarbital), medicines control heartbeat ( amiodarone, disopyramide, quinidine), medicines used to calm emotion and mental disorder (olanzapine, prochlorperazine) antihypertensive (clonidine, guanethidine, propranolol), antibiotic (moxifloxacin) and medication used to treat mental illness (lithium), antihistamines (such as cetirizine, diphenhydramine), corticosteroids (prednisone).
Drug-Disease Interaction:
CHLORPROMAZINE+TRIFLUOPERAZINE+TRIHEXIPHENIDYL should be used with caution in patients with heart problems such as QT prolongation (heart rhythm problem), acute alcohol abuse, central nervous system (CNS) depression, dementia, stroke, seizures, kidney diseases, diabetes, tardive dyskinesia, neuroleptic malignant syndrome, and liver problems.

ALCOHOL
Alcohol may worsen the condition and increase the risk of side effects while using CHLORPROMAZINE+TRIFLUOPERAZINE+TRIHEXIPHENIDYL.
PREGNANCY
CHLORPROMAZINE+TRIFLUOPERAZINE+TRIHEXIPHENIDYL is not recommended for use in pregnant women unless necessary. The risks and benefits should be discussed with the doctor before taking this medicine.
BREAST FEEDING

DRIVING
CHLORPROMAZINE+TRIFLUOPERAZINE+TRIHEXIPHENIDYL may cause especially elderly patients, to become drowsy, dizzy, light-headed, clumsy, unsteady, or less alert than normal. If you are affected, do not drive or operate dangerous machinery after taking CHLORPROMAZINE+TRIFLUOPERAZINE+TRIHEXIPHENIDYL.
LIVER
CHLORPROMAZINE+TRIFLUOPERAZINE+TRIHEXIPHENIDYL is used with caution in liver diseases. Please consult your doctor before taking CHLORPROMAZINE+TRIFLUOPERAZINE+TRIHEXIPHENIDYL.
KIDNEY
