Often, in the beginning, we would see patients who would be accompanied by pregnant women, just to hide their infertility problem from bystanders and even their families. Over the last two decades, we have been involved in creating a shift that has helped create awareness and removed the stigma in our society.Milan, established as BACC, was among the first ART clinics in Bangalore to bring new technology at the affordable cost to patients in India. In addition to women’s health, Milann also recognized the role of male infertility and established the first semen bank in South India in the early 1990s. Milann has been at the forefront of innovation in Assisted Reproductive Technology, having established a strong base of clinical protocols critical for good outcomes and patient safety. We adopted new technology before the curve in areas such as laser assisted hatching, IMSI, Computer Assisted Semen Analysis (CASA), and minimally invasive surgeries. India’s first SIFT baby was born at Milann and South India’s first ICSI was done here, which are now common and are adopted in most infertility clinics. We continue to stress on an evidence-based approach towards research and clinical practice in infertility.We have been at the forefront of defining curriculum, development of national policy and training IVF specialists across India.
