About Mezolam Injection

MIDAZOLAM belongs to a class of drugs called benzodiazepines (sedatives) used to induce sleepiness during therapeutic procedures (like endoscopy or colonoscopy) or complicated medical tests known as procedural sedation. Besides this, MIDAZOLAM also treat acute (sudden) repetitive fits (epilepsy). Conscious sedation is a technique in which drugs help you relax (sedative), reduce anxiety and inhibit pain (anaesthetic) during a medical test or procedure. It is usually referred to as procedural sedation and analgesia. Epilepsy (fits) is a disorder in which there is a sudden, uncontrolled disturbance in nerve cells' electrical activity in the brain.

MIDAZOLAM contains Midazolam that works by increasing GABA activity (a chemical messenger in the brain that acts as a natural nerve-calming agent) involved in inducing drowsiness. Thereby, MIDAZOLAM relaxes muscles, reduces anxiety and cause drowsiness. Also, MIDAZOLAM prevents fits by stabilizing the electrical activity of nerve cells in the brain.

Take MIDAZOLAM as prescribed by your doctor. You are advised to take MIDAZOLAM for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you based on your medical condition. You may experience nausea, vomiting, headache, drowsiness, runny nose, throat irritation, nasal discomfort, and dizziness in some cases. Most of these side effects of MIDAZOLAM do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

If you are allergic to MIDAZOLAM or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. Avoid taking MIDAZOLAM if you are pregnant, especially in the last trimester as it may cause adverse effects in the baby. MIDAZOLAM may be excreted in breastmilk. Therefore, please consult a doctor if you are breastfeeding. MIDAZOLAM should be used with caution in elderly patients as there is an increased risk of adverse effects. Special care should be taken while giving an injection to children, and dose will be adjusted appropriately. Avoid consumption of alcohol with MIDAZOLAM as it may increase the sedative effect of MIDAZOLAM. MIDAZOLAM may cause drowsiness or affect concentration and co-ordination. It is an offence to drive if MIDAZOLAM affects you. Therefore, avoid driving if you feel drowsy after taking MIDAZOLAM.
