About Eczmate S Cream

MOMETASONE+SALICYLIC ACID belongs to the class of ‘dermatological agents’ primarily used to treat skin diseases such as eczema and psoriasis. Eczema is a condition in which skin becomes red, itchy, and inflamed due to external agents such as soaps, dyes, or other irritants. Psoriasis is an autoimmune (immune system attacks healthy cells) skin disorder in which the skin becomes scaly, swelled up, and itchy.

MOMETASONE+SALICYLIC ACID is a combination of two medicines: Mometasone and Salicylic acid. Mometasone belongs to the corticosteroid class and has anti-inflammatory, immunosuppressive, and antiproliferative (inhibit cell growth) properties. It blocks prostaglandins production (chemical messengers) that cause inflammatory symptoms such as red, swollen, and itchy rashes. Salicylic acid is a keratolytic medicine that breaks down the clumps of keratin (protein present on the skin), removes dead skin cells, and softens the skin. It enhances the absorption of mometasone. It also acts as an anti-inflammatory and topical antibacterial agent.

Medicinal Benefits of Eczmate S Cream

MOMETASONE+SALICYLIC ACID is a combination of two medicines: Mometasone and Salicylic acid. Mometasone belongs to the corticosteroid class and has anti-inflammatory, immunosuppressive, and antiproliferative (inhibit cell growth) properties. It blocks prostaglandin's production (chemical messengers that cause the skin to become red, swollen, and itchy). Salicylic acid enhances the absorption of mometasone. It is a keratolytic medicine (softens, separates, and peels the skin layer), which breaks down the clumps of keratin, removes dead skin cells, and softens the skin. It is also an anti-inflammatory and topical antibacterial agent.

Directions for Use

MOMETASONE+SALICYLIC ACID is available in the form of cream or ointment. Cream/ointment: Gently rinse the affected area with saline or water before applying MOMETASONE+SALICYLIC ACID. Pat the skin and dry it with a clean cotton towel. Apply a generous amount of MOMETASONE+SALICYLIC ACID and spread it evenly on the affected areas of the skin to form a 1/8-inch thick layer with clean and dry hands. You can also apply MOMETASONE+SALICYLIC ACID with a piece of clean cotton wool or gauze swab. Wash your hands before and after using MOMETASONE+SALICYLIC ACID on the affected areas unless the treatment is for hands.

Drug Warnings

If you notice any persistent skin irritation, worsening of the skin disease, blurred vision, or other visual disturbances, stop using MOMETASONE+SALICYLIC ACID and inform your doctor immediately. Do not use the medicine in and around the eyes, including the eyelids. Do not smoke or go near flames as there is a risk of serious burns with the salicylic acid present in MOMETASONE+SALICYLIC ACID. MOMETASONE+SALICYLIC ACID should be avoided in newborns as it may cause dizziness or hearing disturbances.

Drug Interactions

Drug-Drug Interaction:

MOMETASONE+SALICYLIC ACID may interact with medications used to treat HIV (nelfinavir, ritonavir, and atazanavir), a medication used to treat diabetes insipidus (desmopressin), antibiotic (clarithromycin), and antifungals (ketoconazole).

Drug-Disease Interaction:

MOMETASONE+SALICYLIC ACID should be used with caution in patients with diabetes, Cushing's disease (high cortisol levels), cataract or glaucoma, thyroid and pituitary diseases, heart, kidney, or liver problems.

PREGNANCY

MOMETASONE+SALICYLIC ACID is a category C medicine. So, it is not safe to use during pregnancy. Consult your doctor for further advice.

BREAST FEEDING

MOMETASONE+SALICYLIC ACID may be excreted in breast milk and cause unwanted effects in the nursing baby. So, it is not recommended to be taken during breastfeeding.

DRIVING

MOMETASONE+SALICYLIC ACID may not affect your ability to drive.

LIVER

MOMETASONE+SALICYLIC ACID should be used with caution in patients with liver diseases. The dose may have to be adjusted by your doctor.

KIDNEY

MOMETASONE+SALICYLIC ACID should be used with caution in patients with kidney diseases. The dose may have to be adjusted by your doctor.
