About Clinovin 0.5mg Nasal Drops
OXYMETAZOLINE belongs to the class of medications called ‘alpha1A adrenoceptor agonists’ and used in the treatment of nasal congestion. Besides this OXYMETAZOLINE also useful in the treatment of ptosis of the eyelid and rosacea. The usage/indication of OXYMETAZOLINE depends on the dosage form. For instance OXYMETAZOLINE nasal spray solution used for nasal congestion, Oxymetazoline cream is used to treat ongoing facial redness caused by rosacea (a skin disease that causes redness and pimples on the face).
Nasal congestion is the blockage of nasal passage due to stuffed-up nasal fluid in the nose. Ptosis is the abnormal drooping of the upper eyelid. Rosacea is a condition characterized by small, red-coloured, pus-filled bumps on the face.

Medicinal Benefits of Clinovin 0.5mg Nasal Drops
OXYMETAZOLINE contains ‘oxymetazoline’ that belongs to the class of ‘decongestants’. It narrowing the blood vessels and reduces blood flow to the swollen tissue in the nose, eye or skin. This effect reduces the inflammation alleviating the symptoms. In the nose, this effect facilitates drainage of the nose providing relief from the blocked nose. OXYMETAZOLINE has a quick onset of action and the action lasts for hours.
Directions for Use
OXYMETAZOLINE is available in the following dosage forms: nasal spray, eye drops and topical cream. Nasal spray: If you are using the nasal spray for the first time or have not used the medicine for 5 days or longer, you have to prime the spray. It means you have to spray out some of the medicine before use, by squeezing the bottle. Shake the nasal spray well before each use. Blow your nose to clear the nostrils. Then, keep your head upright while spraying the medicine into each nostril. After using, wipe the tip of the bottle and close the cap tightly. Do not use more frequently or exceed 2 applications in 24 hours, unless you are advised by your doctor. Eye drops: Wash your hands thoroughly with water before and after use. Tilt your head back and pull down the lower eyelid to create a small sac. Take the prescribed amount of dose with the dropper and squeeze out a drop. Close your eyes for about 2 to 3 minutes. Wipe any excess liquid with a tissue. Do not wipe or rinse the dropper tip after use. Place the dropper back on the bottle and tighten the cap. Topical cream: Clean and dry the affected area. Then, apply a thin layer of the medicine to the affected area. Wash your hands before and after use. Use the medicine as recommended by your doctor. Do not take more than the recommended dose. Do not use other creams or moisturizers at the same time. Do not apply this medicine on broken skin or open wounds. Make sure this medicine does not enter the eyes. If the medication gets accidentally into the eyes, rinse with water thoroughly.
Side Effects of Clinovin 0.5mg Nasal Drops
Like all medicines, OXYMETAZOLINE may also cause side-effects such as irritation or burning sensation at the site of application, blurred vision, eye pain, drowsiness, dizziness, headache and slow or fast heartbeat. However, these effects vary for each patient depending on their health condition. Consult your doctor if these side-effects do not disappear or get worsen.

Drug Warnings
Do not take if you are allergic to any of the ingredients. Do not take if you have heart or blood vessel disease, high blood pressure (hypertension), overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism), glaucoma (internal pressure in the eye), diabetes and prostate problems. Also, do not take this medicine if you are taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (for depression) or have taken them in the last 14 days. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Drug Interactions
Drug-Drug Interaction:
OXYMETAZOLINE may interact with antihypertensives, monoamine oxidase inhibitors (antidepressants), other antidepressants (desipramine and imipramine), medications used to treat heart diseases, a medication used to treat migraine (ergotamine) and medications used to treat enlarged prostate gland.
Drug-Disease Interaction:
OXYMETAZOLINE should not be used in patients with glaucoma (an eye problem), trans-sphenoidal hypophysectomy (surgical removal of the pituitary gland), rhinitis sicca (inflammation in the front part of the nose), and acute coronary disease (blockage of blood flow to the heart) or cardiac asthma (shortness of breath due to heart failure).
