About Ceedoxy TZ 100mg/600mg Tablet

DOXYCYCLINE+TINIDAZOLE belongs to a class of medication called 'antibiotics' used to treat several bacterial infections of the urinary tract, vagina, skin, blood, nose, throat, gums, chest, and lungs. Also, DOXYCYCLINE+TINIDAZOLE may be used to treat infections such as giardiasis and amoebiasis (stomach infections) and trichomoniasis (genital infection) caused by protozoa. Bacterial infection is a condition in which harmful bacteria grow in the body and cause infection. It can infect any part of the body and multiple very quickly. DOXYCYCLINE+TINIDAZOLE does not work against infections caused by the virus.

DOXYCYCLINE+TINIDAZOLE is a combination of two antibiotics, namely: Doxycycline and Tinidazole. Doxycycline works by inhibiting the production of essential proteins necessary for bacteria to grow, multiply and increase in numbers. Tinidazole works by damaging the DNA (genetic material) of bacteria and protozoa and inhibits the formation of new DNA essential for bacteria's survival. Thereby, it kills microorganisms and prevents the spread of infection.

You are advised to take DOXYCYCLINE+TINIDAZOLE for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you based on your medical condition. You may experience vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, stomach pain or cramps, headache, or loss of appetite in some cases. Most of these side effects of DOXYCYCLINE+TINIDAZOLE do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

If you are allergic to DOXYCYCLINE+TINIDAZOLE or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. Avoid taking DOXYCYCLINE+TINIDAZOLE and consult a doctor before taking DOXYCYCLINE+TINIDAZOLE, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding as it may harm the baby. Tinidazole may affect fertility in both men and women. Therefore, please consult a doctor if you are planning for pregnancy before taking DOXYCYCLINE+TINIDAZOLE. DOXYCYCLINE+TINIDAZOLE is not recommended for children below 12 years as safety and effectiveness were not established. Drive only if you are alert as DOXYCYCLINE+TINIDAZOLE may cause drowsiness, weakness, or numbness. Avoid exposure to strong sunlight as DOXYCYCLINE+TINIDAZOLE may make the skin more sensitive to sunburn than normal.

DOXYCYCLINE+TINIDAZOLE is a combination of two antibiotics, namely: Doxycycline and Tinidazole. Doxycycline is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that acts against both aerobic (grow in the presence of oxygen) and anaerobic (grow in the absence of oxygen) gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria. It works by inhibiting the production of essential proteins necessary for bacteria to grow, multiply and increase in numbers. Tinidazole is also a broad-spectrum antibiotic that damages the DNA (genetic material) of bacteria and protozoa and inhibits new DNA formation. Thereby, killing micro-organisms and preventing the spread of bacterial infection.

Directions for Use

DOXYCYCLINE+TINIDAZOLE can be taken with or without food as advised by your doctor. The tablet form of DOXYCYCLINE+TINIDAZOLE should be swallowed as a whole with a glass of water. Do not break, crush or chew it. Take DOXYCYCLINE+TINIDAZOLE either standing up or sitting down before going to bed to prevent stomach irritation. Do not lie down for a minimum of 30 minutes after taking DOXYCYCLINE+TINIDAZOLE.

Drug Interactions

Drug-Drug Interaction:

DOXYCYCLINE+TINIDAZOLE may interact with a blood thinner (warfarin), anticonvulsants (phenytoin, carbamazepine), immunosuppressant (cyclosporin), and antibiotic (nitrofurantoin).

Drug-Disease Interaction:

 If you have kidney or liver problems, myasthenia gravis (muscle weakness), porphyria (a disorder in the formation of red blood pigment),  systemic lupus erythematosus (an autoimmune disease), syphilis, diarrhea, a blood disorder, or fits, inform your doctor before taking DOXYCYCLINE+TINIDAZOLE.

Safety Advice

ALCOHOL

Avoid alcohol consumption with DOXYCYCLINE+TINIDAZOLE as it may reduce the effect of DOXYCYCLINE+TINIDAZOLE and cause adverse effects such as severe nausea, and vomiting, sweating, fast heartbeats, tingling or warmth under the skin. Please consult a doctor before consuming alcohol while using DOXYCYCLINE+TINIDAZOLE.

PREGNANCY

DOXYCYCLINE+TINIDAZOLE is not recommended for pregnant women as it may cause harm to the unborn baby. Please consult a doctor if you are pregnant or planning for pregnancy.

BREAST FEEDING

DOXYCYCLINE+TINIDAZOLE is contraindicated in breastfeeding mothers as DOXYCYCLINE+TINIDAZOLE is excreted in human milk and may cause permanent discoloration of the tooth in the baby. Please consult a doctor if you are breastfeeding.

DRIVING

DOXYCYCLINE+TINIDAZOLE may cause drowsiness, weakness, or numbness. Therefore, drive only if you are alert after taking DOXYCYCLINE+TINIDAZOLE.

LIVER

Take DOXYCYCLINE+TINIDAZOLE with caution, especially if you have a history of Liver diseases/conditions. The dose may be adjusted by your doctor as required.

KIDNEY

Take DOXYCYCLINE+TINIDAZOLE with caution, especially if you have a history of Kidney diseases/conditions. The dose may be adjusted by your doctor as required.
