About Aristogyl-F Oral Suspension
FURAZOLIDONE+METRONIDAZOLE belongs to a class of medicines known as antibiotics. This is used to treat various infections caused by bacteria, dysentery and diarrhea. A bacterial infection is a condition in which harmful bacteria enter, multiply and infect our bodies. It can target any body part and multiple very quickly. Amoebic dysentery can be caused due to entamoeba histolytica, giardia lamblia or clostridium difficile. Diarrhea is the increase in bowel movement leading to increased and loose motions.
FURAZOLIDONE+METRONIDAZOLE is a combination of two antibiotics that include furazolidone and metronidazole. FURAZOLIDONE+METRONIDAZOLE contains flurazolidone works by interfering with the protein synthesis, a mechanism which is important for survival of bacteria. Metronidazole kills parasites and anaerobic bacteria that are responsible for causing infections. It works by damaging their DNA. Collectively they help in treating the disease effectively.

FURAZOLIDONE+METRONIDAZOLE is a combination of two medicines namely furazolidone and metronidazole. is used to treat various infections caused by bacteria, dysentery and diarrhea. It is also used to treat intestinal infections, typhoid fever and skin infections. FURAZOLIDONE+METRONIDAZOLE is effective to treat many types of bacterial infections. FURAZOLIDONE+METRONIDAZOLE contains flurazolidone works by interfering with the protein synthesis, a mechanism which is important for survival of bacteria. Metronidazole kills parasites and anaerobic bacteria that are responsible for causing infections. It works by damaging their DNA. Collectively they help in treating the disease effectively.
Directions for Use
FURAZOLIDONE+METRONIDAZOLE is available in the tablet and liquid (suspension) form. Tablet: Use FURAZOLIDONE+METRONIDAZOLE as prescribed by a doctor. Take FURAZOLIDONE+METRONIDAZOLE with or without food and swallow whole with a glass of water. Do not crush, chew or break it. You are advised to take FURAZOLIDONE+METRONIDAZOLE for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you depending on your medical condition. Liquid (suspension): Use FURAZOLIDONE+METRONIDAZOLE as prescribed by a doctor. Take FURAZOLIDONE+METRONIDAZOLE with or without food. FURAZOLIDONE+METRONIDAZOLE should be taken with the given measuring cylinder as prescribed by your doctor. You are advised to take FURAZOLIDONE+METRONIDAZOLE for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you depending on your medical condition.

Drug Warnings
If you are allergic to furazolidone, metronidazole or any other antibacterial or anti amoebic agents, please inform your doctor to avoid any unwanted side-effects. FURAZOLIDONE+METRONIDAZOLE should not be taken in the conditions like liver disease, kidney disease. Before taking FURAZOLIDONE+METRONIDAZOLE inform your doctor if you have fits disorder, numbness or pain of feet or hands. FURAZOLIDONE+METRONIDAZOLE may low white blood cell count (leukopenia). FURAZOLIDONE+METRONIDAZOLE may cause convulsions (rapid contraction and relaxation of body muscles), if you observe these symptoms immediately contact your doctor. Discontinue the FURAZOLIDONE+METRONIDAZOLE if any signs of low blood count observed. Immediately inform your doctor if you experience swelling of the face, tongue, throat, itchy rash or breathing difficulties while taking this FURAZOLIDONE+METRONIDAZOLE. FURAZOLIDONE+METRONIDAZOLE is safely given to children above one month year of age. It is advisable to you do not drive while using FURAZOLIDONE+METRONIDAZOLE as FURAZOLIDONE+METRONIDAZOLE may cause blurred vision or dizziness that may affect the ability to drive or use machines. It is not advisable to stop taking FURAZOLIDONE+METRONIDAZOLE suddenly to avoid unpleasant side effects. The full course prescribed by the doctor should be completed.
Drug Interactions
Drug-Drug Interaction:
This medicine may have an interaction with antiparkinson’s medicine (selegiline, rasagiline, apomorphine), a medicine used in cough (dextromethorphan), antiallergic (phenylephrine, pseudoephedrine), medicine for the fit disorder (phenobarbital), medicine for enlarged prostate gland (a gland between the bladder and penis) (alfuzosin), medicine for heart disease (amiodarone), antibiotic (clarithromycin), antacid (omeprazole).
Drug-Disease Interaction:
FURAZOLIDONE+METRONIDAZOLE may interact in patients with liver disease and gastrointestinal disease.
Safety Advice
ALCOHOL
Drinking alcohol while taking this FURAZOLIDONE+METRONIDAZOLE may lead to an unpleasant reaction with symptoms like stomach pain, vomiting, nausea, flushing, headache or redness of the face.
PREGNANCY
FURAZOLIDONE+METRONIDAZOLE should not be taken if you are pregnant or planning to have a baby. If you become pregnant while taking FURAZOLIDONE+METRONIDAZOLE, stop taking the medication, and contact your doctor immediately. Metronidazole should not be given in the first trimester of the pregnancy as it may cause harm to the fetus.
BREAST FEEDING
Take FURAZOLIDONE+METRONIDAZOLE only when prescribed, FURAZOLIDONE+METRONIDAZOLE contains ‘metronidazole’ which is known to pass on in a limited quantity via breast milk to the child. Consult your doctor for further advice.
DRIVING
Do not drive while using FURAZOLIDONE+METRONIDAZOLE as FURAZOLIDONE+METRONIDAZOLE may cause blurred vision or dizziness that may affect the ability to drive or using machines.
LIVER
FURAZOLIDONE+METRONIDAZOLE to be taken with caution, especially if you have a history of liver diseases/conditions. The dose may have to be adjusted by your doctor.
KIDNEY
FURAZOLIDONE+METRONIDAZOLE to be taken with caution, especially if you have a history of kidney diseases/conditions. The dose may have to be adjusted by your doctor.
