Dr. Prabha Ramakrishna has wide expertise in many areas of Obstetrics and Gynaecology both in India and abroad. After her graduation from Bangalore Medical College, she completed her postgraduation in OBG from Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore, followed by the DNB by National Board of Examinations, New Delhi. Later, she worked as a Lecturer at St John's Medical College, where she gained experience in Colposcopy and Gynaecological oncology. She then worked at Gunasheela IVF Centre and gained good exposure in treating infertility.She was sponsored by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, London, through the prestigious and highly competitive Overseas Training Fellowship Scheme to undergo higher specialist training in the UK. She worked at various hospitals there and gained a lot of experience in managing complicated cases in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. She was conferred the MRCOG in 2006.Her interest in minimal access surgery led her to undergo training at Minimal Access Training Centre, University of Birmingham. To further enhance her skills, she trained at University of Kiel, Germany, with Prof Mettler- a pioneer in the field of Gynaecologic Endoscopy. On returning to India in 2007, she joined Wockhardt (Fortis) Hospital and Rangadore Memorial Hospital as a Consultant.She is a member of the Medico-legal committee of the Bangalore Society of Obstetricians and Gynaeocologists. She has recently been awarded India Positive award by CNN-IBN for her pioneering public-private partnership initiative in Bangalore to provide free specialist services at BBMP hospital.She takes keen interest in training doctors and nurses in Emergency Obstetric Care (EmOC) and has been a faculty for BSOG-RCOG EmOC program since 2007. She is also a faculty in MRCOG training program conducted by Bangalore RCOG Trust. She is passionately involved in the team's community services and free clinics.
