Vanita Pathak-Ray graduated in medicine from the University of Kolkata (formerly Calcutta) and completed her basic ophthalmology training in London, UK and higher training in Cardiff, UK. She has been elected fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh, Scotland (FRCS) and of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, London, England (FRCOphth). In addition to her experience in the UK, she completed a prestigious clinical fellowship in glaucoma under the world-renowned glaucoma specialist Dr. Ike K Ahmed MD, at the University of Toronto, Canada.Her interests include innovation and advancement of glaucoma surgery particularly in angle closure glaucoma, management of refractory / secondary glaucomas, glaucoma drainage devices, management of combined cataract and glaucoma, rescue of failed filtration surgery and plateau iris syndrome. First Indian Glaucoma specialist to perform minimally invasive glaucoma surgery in angle closure disease (phaco-endocycloplasty) and to use Kahook Dual Blade to perform trabeculotomy in adults.
