Dr. Makam Ramesh, best known for his surgical skills, teaching experience, innovations and research, is a pioneer in Minimal Invasive Surgery in the state of Karnataka, in India. He was the first surgeon to perform almost every type of advanced laparoscopic surgery in the State. He has also pioneered hand-assisted laparoscopic surgery in the country. He was also a part of the pioneering team in India in Bariatric Surgery, headed by Dr. Sunil Sharma, which performed the first Laparoscopic Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass surgery in India.He established the world renowned Bangalore Endoscopic Surgery Training Institute & Research Centre, through which he has trained over 600 practising surgeons from 5 continents and has been involved in several innovations including BEST endotrainer, Virtual Reality Laparoscopic Surgery Simulator, and Circulation pump, used for training in Minimal Invasive Surgery.
